Description: Our client is currently seeking a Sr. Product Development Engineer / Lead Design Engineer to oversee strategy, and has comprehensive technical leadership and project ownership with the design and development of off-road performance front and rear bumper systems for OEM customers. This person will provide design innovations and technical leadership as needed to achieve project goals and coordinate across all areas of engineering from concept design to real world production.

This job will have the following responsibilities:
- Maintain design engineering ownership of project from concept through product manufacturing launch.
- Perform FEA and other CAE analysis to make appropriate engineering decisions.
- Act as project leader to gather and understand all relevant project information, maintain project folders, liaise with customer on technical issues, and interface with other departments and functions as needed.
- Organize and conduct design reviews internal and external to the organization
- Produce solid models and detail drawings. Check drawings for approval and prepare associated release documentation.
- Provide problem solving capability both in-house and with the customer on specific applications. Track, monitor, and communicate project open issue status for project design/development/applications.
- Maintain awareness of program timing milestones related to design engineering and achieve target timing for design/development tasks.
- Participation with colleagues in planning, execution, and reporting of validation testing
- Analyze test results and recommend corrective actions in cases of performance non-compliance.
- Work closely with Design Studio and Program Managers to ensure compliance with customer's specifications and timing requirements.
- 5+ years in mechanical design for body on frame bumper systems
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of design concepts, including mechanics, physics, kinematics, materials science, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various manufacturing and tooling methods including but not limited to Metal stamping, Welding, Iron and aluminum castings, forging, plastic injection molding, blow molding
- In depth knowledge and understanding of OEM product creation processes from concept to production.
