Home to the 2020 NASCAR Championship Weekend,Phoenix Racewayhas been the premier motorsports venue in the Southwest since 1964 and hosts two NASCAR race weekends each year. In March, the FanShield 500 Speed Fest Weekend kicks off the race season at Phoenix Raceway, featuring the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and the new addition of the ARCA Menards Series. For the first time in the history of the sport, Phoenix Raceway will host the NASCAR Championship Weekend in 2020. Over the three day event in November, champions will be crowned in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series West. Phoenix Raceway also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including corporate meetings and conferences, charity events, holiday events, sport and endurance competitions, driving schools and Segway tours.

The senior staff accountant is responsible for various accounting, cash processing and other functions in the accounting department, along with some payroll functions. This position involves event weekend and occasional extended weekday hours as needed. The accounting director may assign additional duties and/or responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Accounting

• Submits invoices received to Workday for processing with Spend Categories
• Submit check requests in Workday with Spend Categories and proper documentation
• Obtains W-9's and set up new vendors as needed
• Address Vendor/Customer inquires
• Assist with the monthly closing which includes monthly balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry accruals and variance analysis
• Process payment and submit to corporate
• Assist with Quarterly Flux reports
• Monthly / Quarterly Sales & Use tax filing
• Monthly Past due reports
• Deposits checks remotely via online, posts to Workday
• Verify all petty cash change funds and replenish as needed
• Receive customer payments and process as needed
• Perform special projects as needed

Event Related

• Event day cash runs to and from the ticket booths & remote sellers
• Assist with event expense reviews for department heads
• Assist with event cash application
• Prepares inventory listing for event day verification
• Assist with payroll scheduling, review and overview of payroll submission

Payroll

• Review and verify approval by all cost centers for weekly and bi-weekly payroll
• Assist with new employee paperwork as needed

Qualifications:

• 5 plus years on hands accounting experience, degree in accounting is a plus
• Comprehensive computer skills and knowledge of Excel, Pivot tables a plus.
• Experience in Workday a plus
• Experience of motorsports industry a plus
