Required Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent with 13+ years related experience, preferred or a masters in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or equivalent with 8+ years related experience.
  • Ability to run self-directed projects, maintain timelines, stay organized, and balance multiple activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things.
  • Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with factorial experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of experiments; JMP experience, Statgraphics or Minitab preferred
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and personal interaction skills
  • Knowledge of high reliability, high volume manufacturing processes and designs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Medical device experience
  • Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma training and certification preferred
  • Deep understanding of formal DOE methodologies and techniques
  • Experience in qualifying/validating equipment & processes for use in the medical industry highly desired.
  • Experience with material properties, chemistry, and adhesives characterizations and controls in large scale manufacturing

Exempt Salary Details:

The annual base salary range for this role is $116,600 to $194,400. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.

Functional Description

Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area. Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques and production yields for existing products. Develops and conducts statistical analysis such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) targeting physical cause of failure for yield loss and improving quality. Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.

  • Possesses expert knowledge of leading technical areas.
  • May be externally recognized as an expert in technical field.

Scope

  • High level of understanding of solving unique problems where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation and may impact future concepts or technologies.

Judgement

  • Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Demonstrates ability to discover and identify processes, novel science and technology which lead to increased productivity and results.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Masters degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience of a PhD and 5+ years of experience.
