Job Profile Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant plays a key role in supporting CAI's U.S. based tax team which is part of CAI's global finance team. This position requires a highly motivated individual with an analytical background with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently. The individual will support different people and departments at various levels within the organization as well as external clients, suppliers, and external auditors. This position requires advanced analytical skills, attention to detail and a strong system of organization as well as the ability to identify problems and issues independently while developing and implementing appropriate solutions.

This position will be full-time and remote.

What You'll Do

  • Directly participate and actively contribute to the coordination of services with external tax advisors, facilitate and assist in the preparation of the company's domestic federal and state of tax returns, business licenses, annual reports, and property tax returns as well as coordinating payments within filing deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax estimates and related filings.
  • Prepare and assist in all aspects of the company's tax compliance process including medical benefits plan, excise tax and exempt organization reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and reconcile nonresident withholding tax general ledgers and the reporting requirements with the state related to nonresident venders
  • Assist with year-end compliance reporting including 1099s, 1042, FBARs, 990's and other compliance and information returns
  • Oversee the organization and administration of the company's W9/W8 files and related compliance
  • Assist with corresponding with various state tax authorities including drafting responses to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities
  • Recommend tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues
  • Staying current with tax law changes and changes within the business and business activities that impact direct tax
  • Assisting on various other projects and issues as required

What You'll Need

Required:
  • Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree with a major in Finance/Accounting
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting and/or corporate environments performing direct tax compliance and/or tax accounting
  • Strong financial accounting background with the ability to analyze and interpret adjustments posted to the general ledger or other specific accounts
  • Experience with interacting with government tax agencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat
  • Must possess strong organizational and leadership potential along with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated possessing the ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic fast-paced environment

Preferred:
  • An active CPA, or candidate who is actively progressing to achieve their CPA is strongly preferred
  • Experience with tax preparation and research software such as CCH tax research software or comparable research tool is preferred
  • Experience using large scale enterprise accounting and compliance platforms such as Workday and Vertex or similar large-scale platforms is preferred

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
