BGIS is currently seeking a Sr. Utility Specialist to join the team Remote, US.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs complex utility planning and program development work

  • Reviews utility construction reports, service regulations, and utility agency rules, compliance policies, and objectives
  • Drive conversations with relevant utilities regarding next steps
  • Act as a liaison between our engineers, project management team and the end customer
  • Understand & relay local jurisdictional requirements as it relates to the installation of a new electrical service with relevant utility
  • Formulate recommendations to correct problems and deficiencies
  • Provide guidance to others related to work as assigned
  • Conduct meeting with individual utility companies and site field visits to coordinate proposed utility locations
  • Manage interface with county, DOT and municipalities as necessary to define project requirements and deliverables to get clear expectations
  • Provide utility coordination and oversight for projects such as electrical vehicle installation that require new transformer services at Client's facilities.
  • Determine equipment lead times with utility companies and drive alternate solutions to address scheduling issues
  • Schedule and attend utility coordination meetings
  • Understand program scheduling and ensure all background information is collected in a timely manner
  • Prepare utility agreement packages, reviewing plans to evaluate compliance with guidelines, rules, and regulations, determining eligibility and betterment ratios
  • Conduct easement and property research in public records.
  • Requires constant communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate any unforeseen delays with all stakeholders and develop plans to get the project back on track
  • Maintain database of all correspondence with utility companies
Required Education, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Experience in utility regulatory work.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with utility coordination and electrical engineering relatedGraduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, statistics, construction, engineering, or a related field is generally preferred.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Knowledge of principles, laws, rules, regulations, and practices of utility operations
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with utilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide guidance to others.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound judgement
  • Ability to read and interpret applicable plans, schematics, blueprints, and maps

BGIS is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. BGIS has different pay ranges for different work locations within the United States which allows us to pay team members competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate's primary work location.

The salary range for this exempt position in the US is $85,000.

A candidate's salary offer is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, and location.
