The Staff Technology & Innovation (T&I) Technician within Materion's Performance Alloys & Composites (PAC) business will support engineering projects and work with other technicians on project work. They perform assigned duties with other team and project members. The incumbent must be able to operate in teams and will support new product and process launches.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Executes projects and trials within defined goals.
  • Gathers and prepares samples for subsequent testing or analysis.
  • Monitors trials and documents required data and observations. This activity requires constant visual attention to detail to ensure data collected is accurate and addresses project/trial goals.
  • Participates in the effective training of entry level Technicians and participates in training themselves.
  • Is fully proficient in the operation of Lab equipment "tools" including but not limited to sample preparation, melting and casting, fabricating equipment, heat treating, SEM/EDS, surface analysis, testing equipment and metallographic methods.
  • Initiates work orders for such things as chemical and metallurgical evaluations of project materials.

    REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 years post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years' experience participating in engineering and product development projects
  • Experience including data acquisition or design, metalworking, casting, welding or machining
  • Experienced with metallographic SEM / TEM operation, preferred
  • Experience with experimental design and preparation, preferred
  • Minimal travel. Up to 15% travel may be required based on business need or training


The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
