CobbFendley is seeking a SUE Field Technician II in our Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos Texas offices.


QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include the following.
  • Knowledge and experience with utility line locating equipment (SUE Designating).
  • Four (4) years of Air Vacuum Excavation (SUE Locating) experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to research and review utility company records and identify utilities from field observation.
  • Ability to read and interpret TXDOT and municipal plans.
  • Understanding of utility constructionmethods.
  • Capable of making field decisions without directsupervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and a teamattitude.
  • CDL preferred, but notrequired.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Locate underground utilities safely through manual labor nondestructivemethods.
  • Record and document the underground utility field data in accordance with CAD standard formats.
  • Must operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
  • Training to meet company safety standards.
  • Dig test holes as directed by job plan.
  • Soil excavation digging with high pressure air/hydro wand and vacuum hose systems. Carrying, maneuvering, and handling wands and hoses at ground level for excavated holes that are approximately 20 feet deep below ground surface.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error free.
  • Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Repeated manual labor motions (i.e.- reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling) while carrying or operating equipment. (Commonly utilized tools include but are not limited to power saw, concrete/core cutting machine, tamper, jack hammer, portable water pump, concrete pavement patch repair materials.)
  • Walking long distances and climbing on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safe and efficiently.
  • Ability to operate heavy manual equipment over 60lbs.
  • Ability to carry SUE equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings.
  • Physical mobility in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other field assignments.
  • Alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high volume traffic.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
  • Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
  • Communication with other employees and clients.
Environmental Factors:
  • 80% of work is performed outdoors in the field and 20% performed indoors in the office/warehouse.
  • Job site observations factors could include walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
  • Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
  • Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST.

Must be available to work overtime as well as some weekends or nights (as needed).

Maybe required to travel statewide in Texas and must be willing to work 10 to 12 hours per day when working on out-of-town project sites.
