Purpose

Directs and supervises employees responsible for operating and/or providing technical support for the operations of the Company's electric and/or customer service activities which may include the dispatch of field operations crews in response to customer trouble and emergency calls. This role will be focused on the implementation of a centralized control jurisdiction for the CMP network in addition to supporting real-time distribution dispatching within the CMP ECC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to employees engaged in the operation of the electric system. Develop and oversee general operating practices that promote the safe, reliable operation of the electric and/or gas systems, while providing high quality customer service to electric & gas customers.
  • Direct, plan, schedule, review and appraise the work of subordinates; schedule shifts; and interview employees. Maintain qualification to fill in for operators as required in an emergency.
  • Provide direction and assistance to operations staff during electric system emergencies. Prepare reports on system disturbances for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Determines operational practices, procedures and methods and resolve problems as required. Confer with management on major system changes, maintenance projects or projects involving material changes to the electric systems to maintain a secure system and provide reliable service.
  • May Represent Company on interdepartmental and regulatory committees and perform other duties as required.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience preferred
  • Associates Degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or High School Diploma with 15 years directly related experience in the utility industry required
  • Knowledge of the characteristics and operation of electric systems
  • Knowledge of customer service procedures is desirable
  • NERC Certification as appropriate
