The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, and Sections of Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and Transplant Surgery, seek a full-time faculty member at the rank of associate or full professor to serve as the Surgical Director of Lung Transplantation. The appointee will focus on clinical leadership, and their practice will concentrate on lung transplantation and innovation in this area. We especially welcome candidates who bring a multifaceted perspective, background, and training to the position and our Transplant Institute, as well as leadership experience in a moderate to large volume transplant program setting. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children's Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1.4 billion. New ambulatory facilities are located in Orland Park, River East, and the South Loop. The Ingalls Health System has recently integrated into the network.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) successfully completed a Lung Transplant Fellowship Program or equivalent.
