Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Survey Technician to join the team in Houston.

Authorization to work lawfully in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

Responsibilitites to include:

  • Receives, catalogues and processes electronic survey data collected and delivered by field survey crews.
  • Imports electronic survey data, processes the data files and provides overall QC in the preparation and delivery of survey base files to the Mapping Department or other internal and external stakeholders required to receive this data.
  • Plots land instruments to prepare land base mosaics for generation of search coordinates to facilitate property corner searches by survey crews in the field. Interacts and communicates with field personnel as required to improve quality and timeliness of work product.
  • Develops stake-out packages for survey crews to ensure layout of proposed pipeline and construction workspace is based on project design data. Conducts One Calls and logs tickets as required by client.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of preliminary design and as-built surveying practices and techniques is required as they apply to the pipeline industry
  • Knowledge and experience with Trimble surveying software and AutoCad is essential
  • Responsible for providing technical support for complex pipeline projects
  • Assumes responsibility for contribution to the success of a project
  • Communicates with internal and external business partners to determine needs and satisfaction
  • Gathers information from identified sources
  • Supports multiple projects to ensure standards for timeliness and quality are met
  • Is proficient with AutoCad and Trimble surveying software
  • Uses mathematics to solve problems
  • Knowledge of pipeline industry practices is essential for advanced positions
  • Work can be complex for procedures and tasks where analytical ability is required to assess the situation and identify appropriate actions to follow
  • Must be able to think independently to continue progress on assigned project(s) without having all the blanks filled in
  • Accountable for accuracy and timeliness of assigned projects
  • Two year technical degree preferred
  • 2 years industry experience
  • Placement at higher levels shall be commensurate with skills and experience
