Job Description

GPI is seeking a full-time Traffic Engineer for our growing New England Region. This position provides the flexibility to be involved in both public and private development projects depending on the candidate's interests. The immediate role is open to a wide range of experience and responsibilities and GPI is seeking candidates who are looking for an opportunity to be a key player within the traffic team. GPI's traffic team works collaboratively to solve mobility issues by providing transportation solutions that benefit communities and the quality of life of those impacted by our infrastructure projects. Responsibilities:

• Thorough understanding of current traffic engineering standards and practices
• Working knowledge of drafting, traffic analysis, and simulation programs (Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, AUTOCAD, and Microsoft Office) is required. Knowledge of VISSIM and SIDRA is a plus
• Good writing skills with the ability to prepare reports and memorandums is a plus
• Interest in learning and growing as a professional while mentoring younger staff to strengthen the team
• Experience developing conceptual intersection/corridor options is a plus
• Interest and experience in working on Boston complete streets projects is a plus
• Experience with urban design and current design practices for multi-modal accommodation is a plus
• Experience working on MassDOT projects is a plus

• BS in Civil Engineering required with a focus in Traffic/Transportation preferred
• 8+ years of traffic engineering experience preferred. All levels of experience will be considered
• PE required (MA preferred) and PTOE preferred
• Familiarity with New England State Agencies (MassDOT, MEPA, etc.) is preferred

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
