If so, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is looking for a detail-oriented individual to join the Unified Communication Technology team, which provides communication/data services and support across the state.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation is responsible for the planning, development, design, construction, maintenance, and administration of the state highway system. Our goals include preserving the billions of dollars Nebraskans have invested in their state highway system, making the highways safe and efficient, and accomplishing this in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Examples of Work
You will assist the Unified Communication (UC) Technology team in creating network documentation and assisting in network analysis to support NDOT network operations by performing the following duties:
- Network Documentation
- Create physical and logical network diagrams using GIS and Visio
- Enter network asset information into Enterprise Asset Management Systems
- Assist with site reviews to determine accuracy of existing maps
- Network Analysis
- Create dashboards to provide information on network operations
- Develop reports for network update recommendations
Opportunities to perform additional duties may become available as skills and abilities apply.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Must be a three-fourths student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.
PREFERRED: Coursework, training, and/or experience with network documentation and systems mapping.
OTHER: Applicants must be at least a three-fourths-time student and be able to work at least 10 hours a week when classes are in session. Temporary full-time employment may be available during scheduled school breaks. Employment up to 2080 hours or four years, whichever comes first. If employed for 2080 hours, a student must take a 30-day break before returning to work. Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent transportation. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform basic site surveys and transfer information to system diagrams and documentation. Basic knowledge of MS Visio or ArcGIS is a plus.
