DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Short Stay has 25 bays, 22 three-walled curtained bays and 3 are rooms with a door and bathroom. The Short Stay unit usually has adult patients greater than 17 years old and treats post-surgical and post procedural patient, Infusion and Transfusion patients. Medical and surgical patients with a variety of diagnoses with an anticipated disposition within 24-48 hours.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager provides support for patients, visitors and colleagues on assigned nursing units. Facilitates efficient patient throughput including admissions, discharges and transfers. Supports patient experience and culture of safety goals through equipment maintenance, unit supplies, unit appearance and overall environment of care. Provides reception type services to patients, families, visitors and other unit guests.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Three to six months previous related experience

Preferred customer service, retail, clerical experience
